Our History

Hi,

Mark Whisler, here.  I’m the guy in the photo at the top of this site and am the owner of Whisler’s, Inc. here in Haines City, Florida.  While I wasn’t actually born in our 706 Ingraham Ave. location here in Haines City, I definitely grew up there.

I was 3 years old when the store originally opened in December 1959 as a Sherwin Williams paint store.

My dad, Tom Whisler, was the assistant manager and can be seen in the black and white photo below (he’s the guy on the left – to the right of him is the store manager Fred Saken).

In 1964 my dad was promoted to be the store manager and carried on in that position until 1972, when he bought the store. That is when we became Whisler’s Inc.  At the time, my dad sold mostly Martin Senoir Paints and added flooring to the mix of items in our inventory.

When I wasn’t in school I was in the paint store and after graduation I went to work full time with my dad in Whislers Paint and Flooring. In 1999 my dad retired and I took over the store.

2007 was another important year as we became a Benjamin Moore Signature Store which is the pearl of their brand. We specialize in their NO VOC Paint system, backed by their Green Promise of safe paint products for you and your family.
